Camp Spotlight: LEARNING NEST ATLANTA

Meet Whitney, the Founder Behind Learning Nest

We sat down with Whitney, the founder of Learning Nest, to talk about what makes her in-home summer pods so special — and why families across Metro Atlanta keep coming back.

Tell us about Learning Nest — what makes your homeschool camp unique, and what can families expect from the experience?

Learning Nest is a hands-on, in-home learning experience designed to blend the fun of summer camp with meaningful early childhood learning. What makes us unique is that we bring the camp directly to families, creating a small, personalized environment where children can learn, play, and connect in a setting that feels comfortable and familiar. Our camps focus on play-based learning, creativity, social interaction, and early academic skills woven naturally into engaging activities. Families can expect a warm, nurturing atmosphere where children are encouraged to explore, create, and build confidence while having fun.

How does the come-to-you model work? What does the setup and scheduling process look like for a family who's never used a mobile camp before?

Our come-to-you model is designed to make summer learning easy and convenient for families. A host family forms a small pod — usually with friends, neighbors, or other families they know — and we bring all of the materials, activities, and instruction directly to the home. We work with families to choose dates, times, and the age range that best fits their group. Once everything is scheduled, we handle the planning and setup so families can simply enjoy the experience. It creates a more personal, flexible alternative to traditional camps while still giving children opportunities for socialization and enrichment.

Who is Learning Nest designed for? What ages, interests, or learning styles thrive most in your program?

Learning Nest is designed primarily for children ages 3–7. Our program is especially great for children who thrive in smaller group settings, enjoy hands-on activities, and benefit from movement, creativity, and individualized attention. We welcome a variety of learning styles and focus on creating experiences that are engaging, interactive, and developmentally appropriate. Children who are curious, imaginative, and eager to explore tend to flourish in our environment.

What's a typical session at Learning Nest look like once you arrive?

A typical summer session at Learning Nest is filled with hands-on fun, creativity, and meaningful learning. Depending on the theme and age group, children may participate in splash days, science experiments, cooking activities, arts and crafts, STEM projects, sensory play, outdoor exploration, and movement games. We also incorporate short learning segments focused on early literacy, math, and problem-solving skills in ways that feel playful and engaging for young children. Our sessions are intentionally balanced to provide structure, social interaction, and plenty of opportunities for children to explore, create, and have fun together.

What do you hope campers take away from their time with you — whether that's a skill, a feeling, or something they carry with them long after the summer ends?

More than anything, we hope children leave feeling confident, capable, and excited about learning. We want them to build friendships, strengthen social skills, and discover that learning can feel joyful and engaging. We also hope families see how meaningful learning can happen through everyday play, creativity, and connection. Long after summer ends, we hope children carry with them positive memories, confidence in themselves, and a love for exploring the world around them.

What's one thing you wish more parents knew about your camp before booking?

I wish more parents knew that our camp is intentionally designed to feel personal and relationship-based. Because we work with small groups, we're able to truly get to know each child and create an experience that feels supportive, engaging, and individualized. It's not just childcare or entertainment — it's a meaningful learning experience built around connection, play, and growth.

Is there anything exciting coming up this season that families should know about?

As we look ahead to the school year, we're excited to continue growing our in-home learning pod programs for families seeking personalized homeschool support and small group learning experiences. We'll also be offering one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on early reading, math, and hands-on enrichment. Our goal is to create flexible learning options that meet children where they are while making learning engaging, personalized, and fun throughout the year.
