Camp Spotlight: Savannah Sharks Cheerleading & Tumbling
There's a phrase that comes up again and again when you talk to the team at Savannah Sharks: it takes a village. For a program heading into its 16th season, that's not just a nice sentiment — it's the whole philosophy.
"While we're proud of the athletes we develop, our mission has always been bigger than cheerleading," the director shared. "We strive to help build confidence, character, resilience, and strong friendships. We believe it takes a village to raise a child, and we're honored to be part of that village for hundreds of families."
A Program Built Around Real Family Life
Savannah Sharks has grown from a small program into a thriving community across two locations — Savannah and Rincon — but the focus hasn't changed: helping kids become the best version of themselves, on and off the mat.
What stands out is how intentionally the program is built around real family schedules. Sharks offers a high-quality cheerleading experience without asking families to overextend — athletes can do Allstar cheer while still playing school sports and having time for everything else going on in their lives. The program is flexible by design, with full-year cheer options starting in summer and half-year options beginning in November.
Something for Every Age and Stage
There's truly an entry point for almost any age:
Toddler Playdates — Fridays in Rincon, Mondays and Fridays in Savannah, for Crawlers through age 5
Sharkie School (their Mother's Morning Out program) — ages 2–5
Birthday parties — up to age 8
Tumbling and cheerleading — starting as young as 3.5, beginner through advanced
Many Sharks athletes have grown up in the gym and gone on to cheer at programs like the University of Georgia, Georgia Southern, Clemson, Piedmont University, and the University of South Carolina — a testament to the foundation built in those early classes.
The Shark Van: Convenience Built In
One of the most popular features of the program is the Shark Van — an after-school pickup service that takes the logistics out of getting to tumbling class. The van picks athletes up directly from school and brings them to the Savannah facility on E President St.
This fall, the Shark Van will service: Hancock, Blessed Sacrament, May Howard, Savannah Christian, St. Peters, St Andrews, St. James, Coastal Middle School, Calvary, Marshpoint, Savannah Country Day School, Jacob G Smith School, and Garrison — with more schools added as interest grows.
Camps for Every Break
When school's out, Sharks fills the gap with half-day camps at both locations. This summer's lineup includes the fan-favorite Popstar Tumble Camp, plus the signature American Girl Doll Camp, Princess Camp, Sharkie School Camp, Sideline Cheer Camp, and more.
For families wanting something more consistent, Sharks runs Summer, Fall, and Spring tumbling sessions, plus Mother's Morning Out from August through May. Families can enroll for a full session or drop in for individual tumbling and Sharkie School classes if a full commitment isn't the right fit right now.
No Experience Required
Maybe the most important thing for first-time families to know: your child doesn't need any prior experience to join. Whether a camper is just starting out or ready to push toward the next level, the team's goal is the same — help every athlete grow.
Camp pricing starts at $255.
